THE UNSTOPPABLE FORCE THAT IS THE U.S. MILITARY

The United States of America is a nation that was originally made possible by brave men (and women) who put the interest of the union above their own and fought for freedoms. When the colonies were first fighting for independence, our military looked a lot different than it does today, but we were still a force to be reckoned with.

Back in 1775, the British had the strongest military in the world and the colonies only had a measly 48,000 people in their military plus the various militias bearing their personal rifles. Despite their limited numbers and supplies, America managed to beat the British in the Revolutionary War and started our country’s long history of dominating military power.

Today, our freedoms and liberties that are given to us in the Constitution and Bill of Rights are protected by the brave men and women who selflessly serve in the numerous branches of the military. The United States of America is the proud titleholder of the largest defense budget in the entire world. Thanks to the massive budget to protect this great country, America has 92 naval destroyer ships- almost double the country with the second most. In addition to the sea, we absolutely own the air as well. The U.S. Airforce has the largest and most technologically advanced air fleet in the world with 5,217 active aircrafts. America also has the second largest air fleet in the world with our U.S. Navy who has over 3,700 active aircrafts beating out Russia who’s entire country only has 3,652 aircrafts.

There are 1.4 million active military members in the United States as of today and another 442,000 in the reserves. These brave men and women risk their lives, leave their loved ones and sacrifice years of their lives to preserve and protect this amazing country. This 4th of July, please take a second to reflect on how lucky we all are to live in the greatest country in the world and to have the freedoms that we do.
