It is with heavy hearts that we reflect on the life of a fellow patriot, firefighter James Michael Muller. James was a member of Irmo Fire Department in Columbia South Carolina and lost his life last Friday while battling an apartment fire — the structure collapsed while he was inside the building. He was found unconscious and rushed to the hospital, but could not be resuscitated.

Muller's life was one of service and dedication to others. He selflessly put himself in harm's way time and time again, always with the goal of protecting and saving lives. He was a true hero in every sense of the word. As a result of his bravery, he, along with his fellow squad saved the residents.

Those who knew Muller describe him as a kind, compassionate, and noble individual. He was always willing to lend a helping hand and go the extra mile to make sure everyone was safe. Muller's legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched and the impact he made on his community. He was a shining example of what it means to serve others as a firefighter and put their needs before your own.

As we mourn the loss of James Michael Muller, we also celebrate his life and the incredible impact he had. His courage and dedication will never be forgotten. Rest in peace, hero, patriot.
